The practice
Anna practised for fourteen years, Tomás for nine. Both stopped in 2014. What we built before is what decides the houses we agree to sell now.

She was taught to draw a house in section before plan, and never stopped. Fourteen years of canyon houses, most of them on sites somebody else had already called unbuildable. She left the year her fourth house won a prize she did not collect. She still draws every listing in section before she writes a line about it.

Lagos, then Mexico City, then here. Six years of public libraries and one very long airport. He is the reason the houses are photographed at dusk — a house shot at noon is a photograph of its cladding, a house shot at blue hour is a photograph of how it is lived in. He was right, and it costs us three weeks a year.
